Set up your workspace

You will learn how to sign in, choose or create a workspace, and create the first project your team will use.

Sign in or create your account

Start from the Tixio sign-in page. Depending on how your workspace is configured, you may sign in with email and password, an SSO provider, or an invitation link.

If you are joining from an invitation, open the invitation link from the email. Tixio will guide you to the right path: sign in, create an account, confirm your email, or return to the invitation after authentication.

If sign-in fails during an invite flow, check that you are using the email address that received the invitation. Some workspaces require an existing account before you can accept an invite; in that case, create or confirm your account first, then reopen the invitation link.

Choose a workspace

After sign-in, Tixio opens the workspace picker. Use it to enter a workspace you already belong to or to create a new one.

The picker shows:

  • Your available workspaces.
  • Pending invitations, when you have any.
  • The last workspace you used.
  • A checkbox to Open last workspace immediately (skip this screen).
  • Your signed-in account and a log out control for switching accounts.

Use the skip option if you usually work in one workspace. Leave it off if you move between workspaces often or regularly review invitations.

Create a workspace

If you are setting up a new team, select New workspace from the workspace picker.

Fill in:

  • Workspace name - the human-readable name, such as Acme Corp.
  • Short name - the URL-safe name, such as acme-corp.

The short name must use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens. Tixio derives one from the workspace name, but you can edit it before creating the workspace.

Choose a short name you are comfortable seeing in URLs. Keep it stable and recognizable; avoid temporary names such as test or new-workspace.

Review the workspace dashboard

When you enter a workspace, you land on the workspace dashboard. It shows the workspace name, the number of projects, and project cards when projects already exist.

If the workspace is new, the dashboard shows an empty state with New project when your role can create projects.

Create your first project

Select New project from the workspace dashboard or the sidebar.

Fill in:

  • Name - the project name people will recognize.
  • Description - optional context for what belongs in the project.
  • Visibility - choose Private for invite-only access or Team for all workspace members.
  • Short name - the URL-safe project slug.
  • Issue prefix - the key used for issues in this project.

For your first project, choose a name that maps to a real team or product area. Good examples are Product, Platform, Website, or Mobile.

Pick project visibility

Visibility controls who can see the project:

  • Private means people need project access. Use this for sensitive work, early planning, customer-specific work, or projects with a limited audience.
  • Team means workspace members can access the project. Use this when the work is broadly visible to the team and you want fewer access requests.

You can invite project members later from the project Members tab.

Create a first issue

Once the project exists, create one real issue instead of a sample task. Pick something small but useful, such as:

  • "Triage first backlog items"
  • "Invite the rest of the team"
  • "Draft sprint goals for next cycle"
  • "Import issues from the previous tracker"

A good first issue has a clear title, enough description for someone else to understand it, an assignee, and the status that matches the current work.

Use this order for a clean rollout:

  1. Create the workspace.
  2. Create one project with the right visibility.
  3. Create a few real issues.
  4. Invite admins or project leads.
  5. Confirm project access with those leads.
  6. Invite the wider team.
  7. Create saved views, cycles, dashboards, and automation only after the first few issues show how the team actually works.

Troubleshooting

If you do not see New workspace, your account or deployment may restrict workspace creation. Ask an administrator to create the workspace or invite you to an existing one.

If you do not see New project, your workspace role may not allow project creation. Ask a workspace owner or admin to create the project or update your role.

If a short name or issue prefix is rejected, choose a unique value using only the allowed characters. Tixio checks for collisions before creating the project.
