Chat with the AI assistant
You will learn how to open Ask AI, ask for help finding work or summarizing status, and make controlled changes from the in-app assistant.
Use this workflow when you want help from the assistant without leaving Tixio.
Before you begin, read AI assistant and chat.
1. Open Ask AI
Open Ask AI from the top bar.
Shortcuts:
- macOS:
Cmd+J. - Windows/Linux:
Ctrl+J.
Use the same control or shortcut to close the panel.
2. Pick the right place to ask
The assistant receives context from the page you are on.
Useful starting places:
- Workspace dashboard for cross-project questions.
- Project pages for backlog, sprint, and project status questions.
- Cycle pages for sprint-specific questions.
- Epic pages for epic progress and child issue questions.
- My Work or Inbox when you want help triaging personal work.
You can still name a project, issue key, cycle, or person explicitly when the context is not obvious.
3. Start a conversation
Use the composer at the bottom of the panel.
Composer behavior:
Entersends.Shift+Enterinserts a new line./opens command suggestions.- The send button is disabled while the answer is streaming.
- The stop button cancels a running answer.
The first message in a new draft creates a conversation.
4. Use conversations
The chat header shows the active conversation title.
Use the conversation menu to:
- Switch to another conversation.
- Start New chat.
- Delete an old conversation.
Use Load earlier messages when a long conversation has older history not loaded in the panel.
5. Resize the panel
Drag the resize handle on the left edge of the chat panel.
Additional controls:
- Double-click the resize handle to reset the width.
- Use arrow keys on the resize handle for keyboard resizing.
- Use the super-wide button when you need more room for tables, plans, or status reports.
The panel width is remembered.
6. Use clear chat
Type either of these commands and send:
clear
clear chat
This starts a fresh draft conversation. If an answer is streaming, Tixio stops it first.
7. Use slash commands
Type / at the start of the first line to open the command palette.
Available commands:
| Command | Use it for |
|---|---|
/find |
Workspace search using the active workspace context. |
/status |
Sprint status for the active project. |
/mywork |
My Work summary for the active workspace. |
Examples:
/find checkout bugs
/status
/mywork
If a command needs workspace or project context, open the relevant workspace or project first.
8. Use proactive prompts
The assistant may show a small suggestion when it notices useful signals, such as several unread notifications, overdue work, or many due-soon issues.
Select the suggestion to send its prompt. Dismiss it when it is not useful for the current session.
9. Ask useful questions
Good search prompts:
Find open bugs mentioning CSV import.
Search this workspace for issues created by me about onboarding.
Good status prompts:
What changed in the active sprint this week?
Summarize project health for Support and Platform.
Good personal-work prompts:
Show my overdue issues grouped by project and suggest next steps.
Summarize my unread notifications and surface anything urgent.
Good creation prompts:
Create a bug in Platform titled "CSV import drops blank rows" with these reproduction steps...
10. Review tool cards
When the assistant looks something up, it may show a tool card.
Tool cards can show:
- The tool being run.
- Whether it is running, done, or failed.
- A compact summary of the result.
- Expanded input and output details.
Use tool cards to understand where an answer came from.
11. Confirm write actions
If the assistant wants to change Tixio data, it shows a confirmation card before running the action.
Examples of write actions:
- Create an issue.
- Update an issue.
- Move issues into a cycle.
- Add a comment.
- Start, close, reopen, or edit a cycle.
- Bulk update issues.
- Create dashboards, widgets, automations, or webhooks when those tools are available.
Select Run it only after reviewing the proposed action. Select Cancel if the assistant misunderstood or the change is not ready.
12. Review plans
For multi-step destructive work, the assistant can show a plan card.
Use the plan card to review:
- The intended sequence.
- Which tools will run.
- Why each step is needed.
- Which steps are pending, running, awaiting confirmation, done, or failed.
You can ask the assistant to adjust the plan before running changes.
13. Interpret answers carefully
Assistant answers are generated from available context and tools. They can still miss nuance.
Before acting on an answer:
- Check linked issue keys and tool-card outputs.
- Confirm the project, cycle, assignee, and status names.
- Review proposed write actions before confirming.
- Use the product UI for sensitive access, SSO, export, or audit decisions.
