Connect Slack

You will learn how to install the Tixio Slack app on your workspace, link your personal Slack identity, use slash commands and the message shortcut, and enable Slack DM notifications.

Workspace install requires a workspace owner or admin. After install, every member links their own Slack account.

For chatting with the assistant in Slack, continue to Use the Slack AI assistant after this setup.

1. Install Slack on the workspace

  1. Open Settings > Integrations > Slack.
  2. Choose Connect Slack.
  3. Complete Slack authorization.

The page should show Connected to your Slack team name under the workspace section.

If you are not an owner or admin, ask one to connect Slack first. Members see a prompt to ask an owner or admin when the workspace install is missing.

On the same page, under Your account:

  1. Choose Connect my Slack account.
  2. Complete Slack authorization.

You should see Slack account linked. Disconnect later if you need to unlink without removing the workspace install.

Slash commands and DM delivery require this personal link.

3. Use slash commands

In Slack:

  • /tixio create <title> — creates an issue in your lowest-keyed accessible project and replies with the new issue key.
  • /tixio find <query> — searches Tixio and returns up to five matches.

If Slack is not connected or your account is not linked, Slack returns an error that points you back to Tixio settings.

4. Create an issue from a Slack message

Use the Slack message shortcut (for example Create Tixio issue from this message under message actions). Tixio creates an issue from the message text in your lowest-keyed accessible project. The first line becomes the title.

5. Enable Slack DM notifications

  1. Open Settings > Notifications.
  2. In the Event types table, set the Slack column to Off, Instant, or Digest for each event you care about.

The Slack column stays disabled until both the workspace install and your personal link are complete. The page links back to Slack settings when setup is incomplete.

Useful events for Slack DMs include mentions, assignments, comments, status changes, due soon, invitations, and development events such as pull requests or CI checks. See Notification event types and Tune notification settings.

Slack DMs arrive as cards with actions such as Open and Mark read, plus quick status actions when available.

What you get after setup

  1. Slash commands /tixio create and /tixio find.
  2. DM notifications for the events you enable.
  3. A message shortcut to create an issue from any Slack message.
  4. Optional AI assistant chat in Slack (separate guide linked below).

Limits to expect

  • Slash create and find always target your lowest-keyed accessible project (no project picker in Slack).
  • Disconnecting the workspace install removes shared Slack features for everyone until an admin reconnects.
  • If Slack is not configured on the deployment, settings show that the integration is unavailable.
